Elizabeth Dohrmann, MD | Child, Adolescent, & General Psychiatrist
Dr. Dohrmann’s training in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) began as an undergraduate at Yale University’s Child Study Center. For some years following, she conducted cognitive testing and autism specific diagnostic assessments (i.e., ADOS, ADI-R) for academic clinical research programs at the University of California – San Diego and Vanderbilt University’s Treatment & Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Dohrmann completed medical school in her home state at the University of Tennessee where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received patient care and Psychiatry Department awards. She completed general psychiatric residency at New York University, where she trained at Bellevue Hospital, NYU Langone Medical Center, and the Manhattan VA Medical Center, and received the annual resident teaching award. Dr. Dohrmann completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, where she worked in the Child and Adult Neurodevelopmental Clinic (CAN), completed training in the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS), and was co-chief for the fellowship.
In addition to her dedication to supporting individuals across the lifespan with neurodevelopmental challenges, Dr. Dohrmann is committed to working with youth in the foster care and carceral systems through her role at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. She also greatly enjoys teaching residents and fellows at UCLA and working with advocacy groups for equity in mental health diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Dohrmann is a regular on Los Angeles’s running and biking trails and is often at the grocery store shopping for the next dinner party. She is always happy to come home to her talkative black cat, Ada.
